Booking A DJ

You have had a wonderful day and now it is time for you and your guests to let your hair down and party the night away.
It is important that you choose a wedding band and/or Disc Jockey you will be happy with.
Here are some tips to help you choose a good Disc Jockey:
- Good Dj's will probably be booked 6 to 12 months or more in advance.
- Decide if you require a band and a Dj or just one or the other to determine how long the DJ will be required to perform
- Decide on the style of music you would you like: pop, hip hop etc
- Ask for demo tape from a few bands / Dj's to give you an idea of what they sound like
- Go see the DJ perform at a wedding before you confirm a booking
- If you need to ask if the Dj to act as your Master of Ceremonies .
- What types of music do they play / not play?
- Can you / they provide a song list
- What is the total cost and what exactly are you getting?
- How many breaks will you take? How long?
- Will you be able to provide continuous music or taped music during the breaks?
- Are there any extra costs not included in your quoted fee?
- What is your payment schedule and cancellation policy?
- What is your hourly fee? Overtime fee?
- How long has the DJ been playing at weddings?
